Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.  (Joel 1:14)

Message from Pastor Myra

God Is Up To Something!  That may seem daunting to those who don’t like surprises, but when you consider that God is a Good Father, He cares about His children, and He has great plans for us that don’t include hurting us, we can rest easier.  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Times have been challenging these past few years.  We have lost loved ones, lost jobs, had financial disappointments, and sickness and injury have overwhelmed many of us.  As difficult as it has been, be encouraged.  God has not forgotten us.  He is up to something!  “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them.”  (Psalms 34:19)

What is He Up To?  I don’t know, but I can see His hand upon us!  We just have to trust Him and stand firm in our faith that He knows what He’s doing and believe that it’s for our good!  These are promises from our loving Father, our Good Father!  I am excited about what He has planned, not only for COLFC, but also for His children everywhere!

During this month of consecration, let’s focus on hearing God speak to us and seeing Him move in our midst.  Be open to what He may show you, and opportunities that He will present for you to represent Him in your sphere of influence.  That may be your home and family, your job and co-workers, or your school and friends.

While fasting natural food (until 5:00pm at least 3 days per week), combine prayer (using the suggested prayer focus list) and praise and worship.  Speak positive and encouraging words especially during this month, while limiting distractions such as TV, video games, etc.  Tithe regularly, but consider extravagant giving of your tithe, your time, and talent.

Plan to start and finish strong as we gather for prayer on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights at 6PM.  Encourage your children to participate during this time.  Let’s call one another to encourage each other and pray together, even if it’s challenging.

Keep mints handy, pray, and meditate on the Word.  If you’re under a doctor’s care or on medications, exercise wisdom and speak with your physician before making radical changes in your eating habits.

It’s not hard to feel as though we are not going to come out of the hard times we have seen, but don’t lose hope.  God Is Up To Something, and I’m excited about it!

Love and Blessings,

  Pastor Myra
